Drawing The Boundaries Of Economic Sociology: A Critical Assessment

It can be argued that the core of subfield new economic sociology (NES) is consisted two inter-related yet distinct foundational criticisms by sociologists to mainstream economics: i) its commitment rational choice leads an “under-socialized” concept agent; and ii) it correct understanding market affairs, if “embeddedness” included in analysis. In this paper, I will argue these dual are insufficient, due to; first, even economics discipline itself, such a reconceptualization agent had already been posed long before NES scholars formulated their criticisms, thus absorbed conventional thinking as exceptions rule; second, introduction cannot overturn neoclassical economics, since hardly differ from heterodox-minded economists both focus merely on interpersonal situational (while largely dismissing structural) dimensions power relations.
